The Special Needs Registry is a computer list of individuals who live in New Hanover County and have special physical, medical or functional disabilities that would place them at higher risk in an emergency event such as a hurricane.
Individuals who are on the registry will be contacted by one of our trained RSVP volunteers 72 to 36 hours before a hurricane (or other known emergency situation) is expected to affect our area. The volunteer will review their Personal Disaster Plan and notify the Special Needs Task Force Team if additional assistance or evaluation is needed.
