WHY – We deserve it!  This building is 26 years old and is in need of some modernization.

Following public hearings, New Hanover County Commissioners approved the Fiscal Year 2018-19 Budget on June 4, 2018. The adopted budget includes a Capital Improvement Project (CIP) for building improvements at the Senior Resource Center (SRC). The CIP will take place in phases over the next two years. The SRC building has been in operation over 26 years (since February 1992). It is currently the only multipurpose senior center in New Hanover County and is a valuable resource to the aging network.

The SRC facility is in need of renovation and up fitting in order to expand the life of the building to serve generations of older adults for years to come. The renovations will improve safety, energy efficiencies, accessibility, maximize use of space, improve technology, and aesthetics.

This CIP is an investment to help better serve our citizens and enhance the quality of life in this community. We will keep you informed once a timeline and more information about our building improvements are determined.
