The NHC Senior Resource Center, in partnership with the YMCA, will conduct eight two-hour Matter of Balance classes beginning August 6 through August 29. Classes are led by two Certified Matter of Balance Coaches, Gayla MacMillan & Fran Tabor, and are limited to 12 seniors. You must be 60 and over to attend, and pre-registration is required.
Matter of Balance is a Tier 3 health promotion class designed to educate seniors in the area of fall prevention and introduce them to information, preventive techniques, and exercises to improve balance, increase strength, and reduce the risk of falling. Exercises can be done seated or standing. Classes provide great exercise, fellowship, and informative information to prevent falls.
The Matter of Balance program is offered at no charge to seniors age 60 and older. However, contributions to support Matter of Balance, Geri-Fit, and other Title III-D Evidence Based Health Promotion classes are always welcome and appreciated.
