Deadline to Appeal 2023 Real Estate Property Value
You may appeal your value in any year between January 1 and the adjournment of the Board of Equalization and Review. The Board of Equalization and Review meets between the first Monday in April and the first Monday in May of each year.

Appealing Values
We strive to take a “value snapshot” of the County as of January 1, each year. In order to incorporate new construction, including remodeling we use the same appraisal manual and methods used to appraise properties that were in existence for the 2021 Revaluation.

Debt Service Tax Rate
In addition to the county tax rate, which is separated into the General Fund rate and the debt fund rate, if you live in the City of Wilmington, or the towns of Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach or Kure Beach your bill will reflect the tax rate of the municipality where your property is located.

Learning More About the Municipal Services District
In December 2016, City Council voted to adopt an ordinance establishing a Municipal Services District (MSD) for the Central Business District (CBD). The ordinance went into effect on July 1, 2017.

Tax Relief & Deferment
A person is totally and permanently disabled if the person has a physical or mental impairment that substantially precludes them from obtaining gainful employment and the permanent disability is reasonably certain to continue without improvement through out their life.
