Phone Pals for Friendship
Phone Pal volunteers needed! Phone Pals for Friendship is an outreach service program that provides phone calls and companionship for isolated and homebound older residents in our community. This year’s volunteer training kickoff will be September 30, 2016 at 10:00 am in classroom “B”, at the New Hanover County Senior Resource Center. Commissioner Jonathan Barfield will be the guest speaker at this year’s training and help the SRC launch the new and improved program. If you know of any older adult in the New Hanover County area in need of this program, or someone willing to serve as a volunteer Phone Pal, please have the individual contact Valorie Hatten directly at 910-798-6485 or email vhatten@nhcgov.com.
Seniors, please do not leave your dogs in the car while visiting the Center. Even "just a minute" can be too long. Heat builds up in a vehicle rather quickly, even with shade and/or having the windows down or cracked open. Just a reminder to keep our furry friends safe in the North Carolina heat. Thanks!
