new
The Wednesday Afternoon Geri - Fit weight class will now start at 12 noon instead of 12:15pm. It is still held in the Physical Fitness Room.
I wanted to share the good news that a total of 346 window fans were donated to the Senior Resource Center through the “Fran’s Fans” program. Special thanks to WECT News, Frances Weller, and our generous Wilmington community for helping senior citizens have cool homes during these hot summer months. Seniors wanting a fan must meet certain qualifications. They have to be New Hanover County residents, 60 years old or older, and they must bring identification to the Center. Anyone under 60 has to be declared disabled. One fan only per household. We are aware that, each summer, persons attempt to get more than one fan per household.
too hot
Seniors, please do not leave your dogs in the car while visiting the Center. Even "just a minute" can be too long. Heat builds up in a vehicle rather quickly, even with shade and/or having the windows down or cracked open. Just a reminder to keep our furry friends safe in the North Carolina heat. Thanks!
